Helga Christal Squyres

January 20, 1948 ~ March 27, 2018 (age 70)

In Loving Memory of

Mrs. Helga Christal “Chris” Squyres

Mrs. Helga Christal “Chris” Squyres of Medford, Oregon passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends at home on Tuesday, March 27.  Chris was the daughter of the late Stanley Hamblin and Christal (Diectkow) Hamblin.  She was born January 20, 1948 in West Berlin, Germany. Her early years were spent in Wisconsin before the family moved to Lodi, California.  She was a graduate of Lodi High School and later earned her Associates Degree from Pacific University.

Chris was an avid reader, loved to garden and listen to Rhythm and Blues or Bon Jovi tunes.  She cherished her time with her children, traveling to see them whenever she could.

She was united in holy matrimony to Ferrell Woodson Squyres on February 21, 1970. This union was blessed with two children.

Her wonderful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: son Reid Squyres and partner Catharyn Hepditch and Grandson Connor Hepditch, Jackson Hole, WY, and daughter Mrs. Heidi (Squyres) Frantz and husband Kim Frantz, Boise, ID.   along with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Chris also had a host of devoted friends that were there to support her throughout her battle against ALS: Wanda Manning, Marty and Chuck Root, Julie Bonney-Shanor, Heather Lipana, Gordan Mack and Sharon Chow, and Leslie Wieltsching.  The family will forever be grateful for their devotion.

The family would like to thank the nurses and care givers at Assante Hospice.  They could not have been friendlier and more thoughtful caring for Chris over these past few weeks.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Coats for Kids at www.operationwarm.org.

Our hearts have been made to rejoice during the illness and passing of our loved one by the many acts of kindness extended to our family. Your prayers and all expressions of love and sympathy are greatly appreciated. May God’s blessings of peace and love continue with you forever.
