Robert Henry Ford, 74, a kind man with a huge soft heart, left us suddenly on February 23, 2019. He passed away in the home he loved in the Siskiyou Mountains.
Bob was born October 10, 1944 to Robert and Marie Ford. He attended Ashland Schools and Southern Oregon College. During his college years he worked at Oak Knoll Golf Course where he fell in love with keeping golf courses pristine for his fellow golfers. To pursue his passion, he attended school in Southern California where he attained a degree in Agronomy. Over the years he helped many golf courses such as Almaden Country Club, Los Altos Country Club in California and in Oregon, Illahe Hills Country Club and Battle Creek Golf Club. He ended his career where he started back at Oak Knoll.
Bob met his first wife Diane while in college in Ashland. They had two beautiful daughters, Julie Kearney (Lee) and Bonnie Ford. Bob's second wife Linda Regert Ford preceded him death. Step daughter Deidre Dobrin (Dave) and stepson Dave Mazzella live in the Medford area. Bob is also survived by his mother, and brother, Olin Ford (Julie) of Medford. His sister Barbara is deceased. In addition, he is survived by 8 grandchildren, Aiden, Ana, Ava, Brendan, Erica, TJ, Sarah and David and one great-granddaughter Kendyl.
Bob's hobbies included golf, darts, collecting old coins and marbles. He was quite skilled in darts and played in many tournaments in the Bay Area. He also loved working in the outdoors, the sound of a chain saw was music to his ears. He will be missed by the people on the mountain that he so tirelessly helped; cutting them wood, helping them with projects or plowing their driveways so they could get to work in the winter.
Bob also kept close ties with his Ashland High School classmates and enjoyed being the Master of Ceremony at the class reunions. His uncanny memory and sharp wit allowed him to point out many funny stories from their past.
For those who wish to remember Bob, services will be held at Perl Funeral Home in Medford, Oregon at 2 pm the afternoon of March 9th. Please feel free to speak of some fond memory you might have.
