Obituary

Angela Carrico Lafazio, age 57, and affectionately known as Angie, passed away on June 19, 2024 in Medford, Oregon after a sudden and brief illness. Born November 30, 1966 in Spokane, Washington, she is survived by her children Jessica Carrico, Erica Carrico and Dylan LaFazio, who were the light of her life. Her grandchildren Ayden Carrico and Luna Maldonado were her joy and will carry her spirit for life forward. She is also survived by her former husband Nelson Lafazio and her partner Mark Meis. She grew up in Saginaw, Michigan the daughter of Dr. Norman T. Carrico and Paula Hanchon Carrico, who preceded her in death. Her siblings, Monica Carrico and John Carrico [Silvia and Thomas Carrico] also survive their sister, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Angie will be remembered as a fierce and vibrant personality who enjoyed gathering with her loved ones and lived her life to the absolute fullest. She would befriend everyone and if she only had $30 in her pocket she would pay $28 for flowers for someone who needed a pick me up.

A life long fisherwoman, avid mushroom forester, she also enjoyed cooking and cheering on her favorite football team, The Detroit Lions. She was happiest outside, near the water, and if at all possible, with a fishing pole in her hands.

She had a way of embellishing the beauty in each moment. Wearing a funky hat at every celebration, she was always ready to try something new. As one of the oldest of the grandchildren and the oldest of her siblings, Angie led the charge down the ski hill, across the water and out into the world.

Angela was loved and will be missed by many. The family will be holding a celebration of her life later this summer.
