Obituary

Corrine passed away peacefully the evening of January8, 2025, after a year and 4-month decline stemming from a small stroke in 2023. As I was going through her things afterwards, I came across this short story titled "My LifeStory" written by my mom shortly before her stroke. I have chosen to use it as a guide for her obituary "My name is Corrine Eastman Rumble Nelson. I was born in Iron Mt., Michigan on June 11, 1932, during the depression the world was experiencing at that time.

Michigan was one of the hardest hit states and people suffered alot. My parents said, "enough of this!" So, my family moved to Southern California where the sun always shined to a place called Paradice Valley, Sanitarium and Hospital (founded and operated by the Seventh-Day-Adventist Church of which Corrine was a lifelong member). A baby brother (Kenneth Eastman) was born there (1940). I already had a younger brother also. (Roland Eastman, born 1934). After a while the family moved to Mt. Shasta, California (1942) where we lived until I went away to boarding school for 4 years, a place called Laurelwood Academy. A private school in Gaston, Oregon (After graduating Corrine became assistant dean and registrar for one year and it was a place of which she had many wonderful times and memories.) I then graduated and went to College in Southern California for two years. (La Sierra College, also Seventh-Day Adventist). I could no longer afford that, so I later met and married a "family friend" named Jim. (James Rumble, 5/29/34-3/31/02.) We had three children (Cary, born in 1956, Renee, born in 1961 and Jamey, born in 1967.) Three grandchildren (Jeremie, Holly and Nathan) and 4 great-grandchildren (Chad, Taylor, Asher, and one she did not know…and a great-

great granddaughter, Serenity, born 1/13/25). So here I am…" Happy as a Lark" and waiting for the Lord to come and take me to My Heavenly Home. Meet you there!" The

End.

Over the years, often because of Jims employment opportunities, the family moved a lot and lived in various places such as Santa Cruz and Big Sir, CA,. Medford and Creswell. OR... and Auburn, Washington. After Jims passing in 2002, Corrine returned to Medford where she lived simply and happily for many years. Then, in 2012,

she met and married a gentleman from her church who had recently been widowed, Gordon Nelson. They remained married until Gordons passing in 2021 when she then moved to Brookdale Senior Living and then to the Adult Foster Home where she was beautifully and graciously cared for and remained in until her passing. All three of her children lived in Medford during the last years of Corrine's life, which was a blessing for her and her children.

Corrine was a stay-at-home mom, and wife, who spent her time raising her family alongside her husband, and keeping the home fires burning as Jim was away a lot as a logger and a long-haul truck driver and was blessed to have her grandchildren around as often as they could be as well while they were growing up. She was very active in her church no matter where they lived. She was an accomplished, self-taught pianist and vocalist. She sewed beautifully, crotched, wrote poetry, painted and was the resident hairstylist for all her friends and family. She served on many church committees and played as the church pianist for most of her adult life and over the many years in the SDA church had made a plethora of lifelong "friends and family", most of which have preceded her in death. She had quite a sarcastic sense of humor (when she wanted to…) which made many of us laugh over the years especially in the last years of her life… Her gift was the piano and singing and those are some of the fondest family memories of her…all the music in our home and the passion for music that she shared with us

and others.

Corrine is preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Jim, her husband of 9 years, Gordon, her brothers Roland and Kenny. She is survived by all her children, her daughter-in-law, Kandy, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Barbara along with 2 niece's and 3 nephews.

I would like to end with this poem that Corrine wrote for her mother when she was 15 years old…

Thank you, mom, for all you sacrificed and did for us, your family and for instilling in us your love for the Lord. We will miss you greatly…Till we meet again Mom.
