Diane Gail Paulsen, a beloved teacher, coach, and friend to so many, passed away on March 21, 2026, in Medford Oregon. She was 81 years old.

Born on September 27, 1944, in Denver, Colorado to Donald Paulsen and Irene Wexel Paulsen. She grew up with natural energy and warmth that would define her entire life, eventually making her way to southern Oregon, where she built a career and a community that meant the world to her.

Diane dedicated 31 years of her life to teaching physical education at Ashland Middle School, where she made a lasting impact on generations of students. She also served as the Ashland High School tennis coach, sharing her passion for athletics and mentorship with countless young people.

Outside of her professional life, Diane found great joy in woodworking in her shop, birdwatching, and walking the beach with her dog. She had a deep appreciation for nature and a creative spirit that touched those around her.

Diane was preceded in death by her father, Donald Paulsen, and her mother, Irene Wexel Paulsen. She is survived by her sisters, Connie Thrush (Bob) and Dawn Degenhardt.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Siskiyou Memorial Cemetery.

Diane was a bright light and a soul well loved.
