In Loving Memory of Dolly Bascon Cura
Dolly Bascon Cura, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 8, 2023, in Medford, Oregon. She was born on April 30, 1947, in Manila, Philippines. Dolly's kind nature and selflessness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Dolly's career was an important part of her life. She found joy and fulfillment working as an accountant at Mid Pacific Distributing in Guam. It was there that she crossed paths with her future husband, Romeo Cura. Dolly formed lifelong friendships with her co-workers, who became like family to her. Auntie Alice Talavera, Auntie Emmie Cabote, and Auntie Mely Capili were dear friends whom her children fondly referred to as family.
After moving to Oregon, Dolly seized the opportunity to open her own business - a successful adult foster home. For over a decade, she dedicated herself to providing care and support to those in need. Through hard work and determination, Dolly ensured financial stability for her family. One of her proudest accomplishments during this time was being able to help her son with the financial burden of college education. Her son's graduation filled her heart with immense pride and happiness.
Family was at the center of Dolly's world. She cherished every moment spent with loved ones and cherished the rare occasions when family members from far and wide could gather together. The bond between sisters held a special place in Dolly's heart as she witnessed them laugh and grow closer over the years.
Above all else, Dolly's love for her sons knew no bounds. They were the light of her life and brought immeasurable joy into each day. As they grew into adulthood, she continued to shower them with unconditional love and support. Her caring nature extended to her grandchildren, particularly her granddaughter Noelani, whom she adored. Dolly took every opportunity to proudly introduce Noelani as "our little princess," a title she held dear. Their bond was one of pure love and their time together brought endless happiness to both of them.
Dolly's warm and welcoming personality captured the hearts of all who encountered her. She was always ready to extend a helping hand or offer a home-cooked meal to anyone who walked through her door. Her tireless dedication to serving others was evident in everything she did.
The memory of Dolly Bascon Cura will forever live on in the hearts of her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her loving son Rodel Cura, future daughter-in-law, Trista Pearson, and son Romy Cura and daughter-in-law Shermane Cura, who all brought immense joy into her life. Noelani Cura her granddaughter, held a special place in Dolly's heart, and their bond will never fade. Dolly also leaves behind her sisters Ana Marie Poblete, Evelyn Leon Guerrero and brother-in-law Edward Leon Guerrero, Tess Grogan and brother-in-law Leon Grogan. Her legacy extends further still with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Dolly was predeceased by her loving husband Romeo Cura, her mother Dolores Bason, her father Emilio Bason, her sisters Aurora Bascon, and Estrella Bascon, brother-in-law Vincent Poblete, mother-in-law Nenita Cura, and father-in-law Primitivo Cura.
