IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Douglas Daryl
Stanley
April 20, 1954 – January 11, 2024
Douglas Daryl Stanley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on January 11th, 2024 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on April 20, 1954 in Anchorage, Alaska to his parents David and Mickey Stanley. Doug attended Anchorage West High School then later traveled to Medford, Oregon where he met and married his wife Susan, and they began a life filled with love and compassion that lasted over 46 years.
Throughout his life Doug embarked on various career paths. He began his journey as a business owner, co-owning a gas station with his best friend Mike Sandstrom. Afterward he explored opportunities in construction, mill work and carpet and vinyl installations. Doug was known for his versatility and hard work. He then became a commercial truck driver for Ashland Sanitary. A job he took great pride in for many years. After that he drove for a local paving company. Doug's passion for helping others was evident years later when he became the maintenance coordinator at a retirement facility in Medford, where he not only remodeled and repaired parts of the buildings but built meaningful relationships with the residents there.
Doug was cherished for his big personality and kind hearted nature. His infectious laughter could light up a room and bring joy to those around him. Known for giving the most amazing hugs, he always made people feel valued and loved. He could very often be found holding a child or baby in his strong and protective arms. Doug never hesitated to open up his home to anyone who needed a place to stay. Whether it was for a quick visit or extended time, all were welcome.
Music held a special place in Doug's heart. He often enjoyed listening to songs that resonated with him deeply. He spent countless hours playing his guitar, enjoying his albums on his stereo or listening to Acoustic Storm on the radio. Doug also loved the great outdoors and found joy in activities such as riding his motorcycle, snow skiing, hunting, camping and water skiing. He enjoyed relaxing trips to the coast with Susan and different fun times with the family. He will forever be remembered for his caring nature, kindness and unwavering love.
Doug's proudest accomplishments were his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather. His devotion to his family was limitless and he cherished every moment spent with them. His grandchildren were the light of his life. Doug leaves behind his loving wife Susan who was always by his side. Together they created a beautiful family. He also leaves behind his daughter Jennifer and husband Bill, his son Josh and wife Cindy. Grandchildren; Hailey and husband Ricky, Emma, Aiden, Dalton and Gage. Sisters; Yvonne, Connie, Kathy, Tracie, Amber and Shelby. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and precious extended family. He is preceded in death by his father David, mother Mickey, stepfather Andy, sister Bonnie and his mother-in-law Beverly.
Though Doug has departed this earthly realm, he will remain forever alive in our hearts. His laughter will echo through our memories while his wonderful spirit continues to inspire us all. We will hold onto the lessons he taught us about love, kindness and compassion. Farewell to a remarkable man whose life illuminated ours with endless warmth and affection.
