With great sadness, we must announce the passing of our wonderful Dad, brother, Papa, uncle and friend, Dwayne R. Murray. Dwayne passed from this life into eternity, to join his wife, Cheryl and father and mother, Wallace and Florence Murray.
Dwayne was born on October 1, 1947 in White Salmon, WA. He graduated from Madison High School in Portland in 1965. He got his undergrad degree from University of Oregon in 1969 and earned his Law degree from Lewis and Clark Law School in 1974.
Dwayne was active in the Air Force ROTC in college and loved his alma mater, U of Oregon, GO DUCKS! Before entering law school Dwayne worked for Matson Navigation Company in San Francisco and managed a ski lodge in Taos, New Mexico.
After earning his law degree, Dwayne practiced several areas of law including wills and trusts, personal injury cases, and bankruptcy, but he is remembered most for the many people he helped obtain the benefits they were entitled to through the Social Security Disability system. In addition to his legal practice, Dwayne served on the Arts Council and several non-profit boards in Medford, as well as a National board in place to help individuals obtain housing.
When not at work, Dwayne enjoyed many activities over the years. He was a baseball player in HS and continued to love all sports throughout his life. He was passionate about boating, especially sailing. He was also an accomplished woodworker. In addition, this year marked his 50th year of living with Type I diabetes, a tremendous milestone.
Survivors include his daughters, Jena (Jim) Donnelly, and Leah (Greg) Nikiforow, 8 grandchildren, his sisters Jeannette Gamber and Mary Jane Weigand and 5 nieces.
Internment will take place at Siskiyou Memorial Park in Medford. Memorial contributions should be directed to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) on-line at https://www.jdrf.org/
