Frances Louise Zon, 89, died unexpectedly in her sleep at home in Central Point July 15, 2022. Fran was born June 10, 1933 in the family home in Grand Forks County, ND. She shared that she "grew up in a little house on the prairie" where her family farmed. Fran graduated from high school in Minto, ND, where she was Class Valedictorian and then attended Mayville State Teachers College. Fran taught school in Carlin, NV before moving with her family to Medford. She had long careers with Payless Drug Store and the Oregon Department of Human Services. Upon retiring, Fran continued serving her community volunteering with the SMART program, Eucharistic Adoration at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford Senior Center, Providence Medical Center and Britt Music Festival. Frans personal devotion to her faith was exemplified in every aspect of her life. She was an elegant example of unconditional love and forgiveness and a tireless advocate for compassion and the well-being of others. She was certain and unfailing about her lifelong journey to Heaven. Fran loved music, dancing, reading, travel and ocean beaches. Above all, she treasured her family, deeply concerned about every challenge and first to celebrate every milestone. A testament to her is the solidarity of her family. She felt blessed that her children "are a family in good times and bad." Fran is survived by her children, Kimberly Faith, Shannon Grey, Patrick Zon, Jennifer Pettigrew, Lisa Young, and Bradley Zon; sister, Judy Proetel; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Hattie Bushaw, brothers Joe Bushaw and Jim Bushaw, sister Lorraine Helmowski, children Michael and Allison, and best friend Jim Chaplin. A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford, Oregon at 11:00 am on July 29, 2022. Alternatives to flowers include memorial gifts to Britt Music and Arts Festival, Rogue Valley ACCESS and Sacred Heart Catholic School.
