Frederick P. Hanker

June 19, 1941 — June 20, 2023

Medford, Oregon

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Fredrick P. Hanker, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Fred, born on June 19th, 1941, was a dedicated meat packer at Hoffy and custodian at Roosevelt Elementary School in Medford, Oregon for most of his life.

Fred had a joyous personality that touched the lives of everyone he met. He was known to be a jokester with a great sense of humor and loved to dance and sing. He was very accepting and supportive of those around him and had an infectious smile that could light up any room he entered. His selfless nature knew no bounds as he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

Fred's proudest accomplishments were numerous. He played softball passionately and even went on to represent his city in senior Olympics held in St. George, Utah. For this amusing golfer, getting a hole in one at the Bear Creek Golf Course ranked high up there among his list of achievements. Additionally, while attending Defiance High School in Ohio, he holds a record in baseball which stands to date.

Aside from sports, Fred embraced other interests such as playing slot machines at the casino and spending quality time with his family and softball community.

Fred was preceded in death by Becky Hanker (wife), Margaret Schweiger (his mother), Chuck Hanker (his brother), Matthew Morgan (his grandson).

Fred is survived by his loving family - Barbara Garcia (sister), Dave Hanker Sr (brother), Kathy Diaz (Sal Diaz) (daughter), Fred Hanker Jr (Sonia Holloway) (son), Debbie Hanker (daughter), Nicholas Ryan (Ashley Lee) (grandson) Ryan Morgan (grandson) - whom he adored greatly along with numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

In conclusion, Fred's infectious spirit will remain with us forever, and though he is no longer with us, the memories he made with each one of us will continue to live on. We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to his loved ones during this time of mourning. Rest in peace, Freddie!

"Gone to play ball with the angels!"
