I Lou Worland, 81, passed away peacefully December 4th at Celia's House.

She was born on May 18, 1943 in Niagara Falls, NY to Ida and Otto Klingele. She was educated in upstate New York and graduated with honors in microbiology at the University of Indiana where she worked with two Nobel laureates Following graduation, she continued studies in fine art at the University of Rochester while working in microbiology research. She met and married Ron Worland while working at the medical school. She followed Ron to UCLA where her research was centered on rheumatoid arthritis. With the long hours of surgical training and the birth of two daughters, she dedicated the rest of her life to being the best MOM possible.

The family moved to Medford in 1977 where she was able to work with the Blue Birds, the Junior Service League, served as president of Women's medical organization and faithfully attended the Episcopal Church. Her love extended beyond our family. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, turning strangers into friends with her warmth and genuine interest in their lives. She was able to participate in several humanitarian surgical missions with her husband to Oaxaca, Mexico.

Lou is survived by her husband, Ronald G Worland MD, her two daughters, Stacey Hurley and Kelly Ravassipour along with two sons-in-law and five loving grandchildren.

Her memorial service will be held at 3 PM at St Mark's Episcopal Church December 13th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Friends of Hospice, Celia's House.

Lou was such a sweet and loving soul. We love you so much and hope you know how loved you are and how many people are grieving the loss of the amazing life you lived.
