In Loving Memory of Jesse Lorain Lowder
September 3, 1943 – October 25, 2026
Jesse Lorain Lowder, 83, of Medford, Oregon, passed away peacefully at his home on October 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and close friends. Born September 3, 1943, in the small town of Hatch, Utah, to Karl and Reva Lowder, Jess grew up surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park, alongside his four sisters and one brother. It was there, among the red rocks and close-knit community of his childhood, that he learned the values that would guide him throughout his life: faith in God, love of family, and the importance of honest, hard work.
From an early age, Jess was no stranger to responsibility, taking on small jobs in his hometown and developing the strong work ethic that would become one of his defining qualities. As a young man, he faithfully served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Great Lakes Mission. Following his mission, he proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Jess went on to dedicate an extraordinary 50 years of service to KOGAP Enterprises, finally retiring at the age of 75. His commitment and loyalty reflected the kind of man he was—steadfast, dependable, and willing to give his very best in everything he did. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jess served faithfully in many callings throughout his life, including bishop, Scoutmaster, and member of the High Council. His dedication to Scouting, church programs, and mentoring others left a lasting impression on countless lives. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome, supported, and valued. Whether offering guidance, sharing his faith, or simply lending a helping hand, Jess lived his beliefs through his actions.
Above all, Jess was a family man. He understood that love was not measured in grand gestures, but in simply being there. Whether searching for huckleberries with his family, cheering from the sidelines at sporting events, supporting 4-H activities, celebrating graduations, or offering encouragement during life’s difficult moments, Jess showed his love through his unwavering presence.
To so many, Jess was home. He was a steady presence, a safe refuge, and a source of belonging. His humor brought laughter, his kindness brought comfort, and his quiet strength gave others courage. He had a way of making people feel that they mattered, and those who spent time in his company often left feeling a little stronger, a little more hopeful, and a lot more loved.
Jess shared 59 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ronda June Lowder. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, perseverance, and love. A saying displayed in their bedroom beautifully reflects the belief that guided Jess throughout his life:
“He never said it would be easy; He only said it would be worth it.”
Those words speak to the faith with which Jess faced life’s challenges and the eternal perspective he carried in his heart.
Jess is survived by his loving wife, Ronda June Rosecrans Lowder; his five children, Shane, Chad, Tyler, Logan, and Coni; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and his two sisters, MaryBeth and Laretta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Reva Lowder; his brother, Rell, who passed away at the age of six; and his sisters, Velta and Karleta.
Jess leaves behind a legacy far greater than the years he lived or the work he accomplished. His legacy lives in the family he loved, the faith he shared, the lives he influenced, and the countless memories held close by those fortunate enough to know him.
Though his earthly journey has come to an end, the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the example he set will continue for generations to come.
