Jesus Maria “Jesse” Lopez Sr., lovingly known as Jesse Sr., passed away peacefully in Medford, Oregon, on June 20, 2026, at 7:34 p.m. following severe heart failure. He was born on October 22, 1946, in Glendale, Arizona, to Fermin and Carmen Lopez.

Jesse was the eldest of six children. He grew up alongside four sisters and one brother, and is survived by one sister and one brother.

Jesse proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam War veteran. His service was an important part of his life and a testament to his strength, dedication, and willingness to serve others.

But perhaps the greatest thing to know about Jesse was how he loved. His love language was giving. He gave of himself, his time, his resources, and whatever he could to the people he cared about. Sometimes he gave so freely that it could be considered a fault—but he never seemed to see it that way. Giving was simply how Jesse showed people they mattered. He gave because it brought him joy, and he did so willingly and happily.

Jesse leaves behind his children, Jesse Lopez Jr. and Misty Torres; his grandchildren, two grandsons and three granddaughters; 1 great granddaughter; his life partner, Theresa Gomez; and countless family members and friends whose lives were touched by his generosity.

Jesse’s life was not defined only by the years he lived, but by the love he gave and the people he left behind. His generosity, his stories, his strength, and the memories he created will continue to live on through his family.

Jesse chose to be cremated, and his wishes have been honored.

Throughout his life, Jesse felt a special connection to the bald eagle and considered it his soul animal. So as we say goodbye, we choose to imagine him exactly as he would have wanted: free, peaceful, and soaring high above us.

May you finally spread your wings, Dad, and soar. You will always be loved, always be remembered, and never forgotten.
