Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Joan Starr Devlin, a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. She passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Joan was a woman who embraced life fully. Whether tending to her flourishing flower garden, enjoying a spirited game of pickle ball with friends, spending time at the beach, travelling the world with her husband, or riding her horses, she lived with passion and joy. Her zest for life was contagious, and she brought light and warmth to every room she entered.

As a mother, Joan was the epitome of care, guidance, and unconditional love. She raised two children with devotion and was a stepmother to four more. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own children, touching the lives of her grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life. Joan had a unique way of making each grandchild feel special, and her memory will live on in their hearts.

A dedicated wife, she was a pillar of strength and unwavering support to her husband, Lewis Devlin, and was a steadfast companion throughout their 36 years together. Her love for her family was boundless, and her legacy will live on in the values she instilled in them: kindness, resilience, and the importance of living life to the fullest.

Joan is survived by her husband, Lewis Devlin; her two children, Bluanne Hamilton and Daniel Bergquist; three stepchildren, Julie Devlin-Delcamp, Brad Devlin, and Rachel Devlin; and 24 beloved grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her son, Jed Bergquist, and her stepson, Russell Devlin. Her memory, along with her love for them, will always be cherished by her family.

A private service will be held to honor her life, with a celebration of her many passions and the joy she brought to others, on Monday, November 11, 2024 at Siskiyou Memorial Park cemetery in Medford, Oregon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Joan's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, a cause close to her heart. In order to honor the light and joy Joan brought into her family and friends lives, the family asks that you consider wearing color to the funeral to symbolize Joan's bright spirit, and to honor Joan's love, kindness, and light that will continue to shine through in our memories.

Joan will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
