Jon Roger
Brazier
May 11, 1945 – September 10, 2025
Jon passed away at the age of 80 on September 10, 2025, in Medford, Oregon. He was born on May 11, 1945, in Alton, Illinois, to Vernon and Ula Brazier. Jon lived his entire childhood in East Alton, Illinois. He graduated from East Alton-Woodriver Community High School in 1963 and earned a Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University in 1970. Later that year, he moved to Oregon to attend Oregon State University and graduated in 1972 with a Master of Science degree. Jon served two years in the US Army from 1965-1967, stationed at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Denver, Colorado, as a Medical Laboratory Specialist. His time in Colorado sparked his love for the outdoors and nature, which played a pivotal role in his career of choice, Forest Hydrology. After completing his master's degree, Jon started his Forest Service career, first in the Forest Service Regional Office in Portland, Oregon, and then moving to Medford, Oregon, where he worked from 1974 to 2005 as a Forest Hydrologist on the Rogue River National Forest.
On July 24, 1971, Jon married Barbara Lyon in Astoria, Oregon. In addition to Barbara, other survivors include: son David (Kim) Brazier of Gulfport, Mississippi; son Steven (Joni) Brazier of Grants Pass, Oregon; and grandchildren Trenton and Addison Brazier, Gulfport, Mississippi; Samuel and Clayton Brazier, Grants Pass, Oregon. Jon was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Landon.
Jon's love of the outdoors was reflected in the many activities he enjoyed… golfing, camping, hiking, photography, birding, and Boy Scouts. He especially enjoyed time on the Oregon coast. Jon was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Medford. A memorial service will be held on October 9, 2025 2 pm at the First United Methodist Church. Interment will be at the VA Cemetery in Eagle Point, Oregon. Memorial contributions can be made in Jon's memory to the First United Methodist Church, 607 W. Main Street, Medford, OR 97501, or plant a tree to honor his love of nature.
