IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joshua David
Kingery
June 15, 1988 – January 19, 2024
Joshua David Kingery
June 15, 1988 – January 19, 2024
"Absent from the body, present with the Lord."
2 Corinthians 5:8
On January 19, 2024, Joshua Kingery left his body, riddled by debilitating, painful pancreatitis, and stepped into the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, where he is enjoying "fullness of joy" and "pleasures for evermore." (Psalm 16:11)
Joshua is survived by his parents Janice and Larry Kingery, Aunts and Uncles: Steve & Lori Hawkins, Bob and Judith Foltz, Joyce McElmurry, Neal and Wanda Henning, Thomas and Nancy Henning, Therese Henning, Ray and Karla Henning, Michael & Julie Henning, Anita & David Wolf, and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Billie & Bob Kingery, Raymond & Laverne Henning, and his uncle, Alan Henning.
A celebration of Joshua's life will be held February 17, 2024 at 12:00 pm at the Applegate Christian Fellowship, Ruch, Oregon, with a reception immediately following.
Joshua, who preferred the name Josh, was a student at Helman Elementary School, Mark Twain Junior High School, and Silverton High School where he achieved academic excellence and was also a varsity soccer player.
Josh finished his high school diploma on an accelerated schedule at Winema School on the Chemeketa Community College Campus in Salem, Oregon. He merited a scholarship during his year at Winema High School, and attended his first year of college at Chemeketa.
During high school and the years that followed, Josh worked as a firefighter, food server, tree harvester, and landscaper. He was in his element when outdoors, but as a result of health limitations, Josh spent his later years working as a Door Dash Delivery Driver. When his deliveries of the day were completed, Josh would unwind at home by entertaining us with "Dasher" stories.
A comedian at heart, Josh kept everyone he knew laughing at his stories and jokes. He was also a gifted musician. Josh enjoyed a wide range of music genres and could be found playing his guitar and listening to music day and night.
Josh's favorite outdoor activities included skateboarding, snowboarding, hiking and camping. At the top of His list was spending time with his family eating home-cooked meals. Having a natural flair for creating his own recipes, Josh became Mom and Dad's personal chef who astonished them with delicious (and often spicy) breakfasts, lunches, dinners and in-between snacks. After meals, Kara, the beloved Kingery Chihuahua, resumed her duties as the family watchdog, resting on Josh's tummy or announcing approaching intruders from her lookout on the top, west corner of the couch.
Arising from his strong faith in God and his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Josh was fun-loving and happy-go-lucky. He always made room in his big heart for family and friends.
Josh, we will miss your jovial demeanor, your robust love of life, and your contagious smile beaming underneath that splendid head of curly hair.
Enjoy your new home in Heaven and please thank Jesus for keeping the eternal light on. We want to be up there with you as soon as we can!
Our aching hearts will again leap with joy when we see you in Heaven, dear Josh, our son, our friend.
"Love never comes to an end."
1 Corinthians 13:8
Josh Kingery lives on. Securely held in the everlasting arms of our loving Father in Heaven above! Forever remembered in the loving hearts of our family and friends here below!
