Kathleen Bernier

Kathleen Bernier died peacefully on the 13th of October 2018 at home with her beloved caregiver, Kathleen Fox. In her 92 years, she married James Bernier of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, raised two children (Susan Storms & Christopher Bernier) and two granddaughters (Kathleen Snyder & Julia Snyder) all who survive her, traveled extensively for pleasure, and enjoyed a wide circle of friends. Born 1926 in Sault Saint Marie, Ontario, she relocated to Southern California with her husband after World War II (eventually moving to Ojai, CA). After raising her family there and after her husband's death in 1984, she moved to Ashland and then Jacksonville, Oregon. Her heart, however, belonged at the family cabin in Brimley, Michigan where she spent many summers. She will be interred near the cabin, with her husband, at Mission Hill Cemetery. Other family survivors include daughter-in-law, Yvonne Bernier, grandson-in-law Corey Bayus, two great grandchildren Gigi and Andre Bayus, and nieces and a nephew in Michigan. Family members and friends have been loving and attentive over the years. They remember her as an anchor in their lives, an independent spirit who could have fun and contend with challenges. Her later years were enriched with close friendships in the Rogue Valley. She will be remembered fondly. At Kathleen Bernier's request, there will be no local service.
