Leslie Loyd Walker passed away at 87 years old after a long health battle on Friday, October 17 in Eugene

Oregon, where he was being cared for.

Loyd was born in Medford, Oregon on August 20, 1938 to Clyde Leslie Walker and Virginia Valetta

Shoemaker. He grew up in Gold Hill, Oregon close to his grandparent's Ranch along the Rogue River

where he spent as much time as possible hunting and fishing. He lived the majority of his life in the

Rogue Valley.

He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints from 1958-1960. Upon returning

he married his high school sweetheart, Dolores Lorraine Risley. They remained married for almost 61

years until her death in 2021.

One of the highlights of Loyd's life was his time serving in the Army from 1960 to 1963 where trained

dogs as an MP, he then served in the Army reserves until 1966.

Loyd spent countless hours in the mountains around Southern Oregon. He taught his children to love

the outdoors. Family vacations were always in October during hunting season and were spent hunting,

camping and enjoying nature.

He is preceded in death by his wife Dolores Walker, Parents Clyde Leslie and Virginia Walker.

Loyd is survived by his 5 children Debra (Greg) Casper, Dianna (Roger) Freeman, David (Sonnie) Walker,

Daniel (Jessica) Walker, and Deena (Dennis) Campbell, 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. As

well as his brother Russell Walker and sisters Jean Asher and Sarah Kahut.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, November 8th at the Church of Jesus Chris of Latter

Day Saints located at 2305 Taylor Rd. Central Point, Oregon. Interment will follow at Rock Point

Cemetery in Gold Hill, Oregon.
