Obituary

Lily Fern Curtis was born on April 10, 1927 in Weed, California to William and Fern Corcoran who had five children; Carol, Iris, Jerry, Myron and Lily. Lily was the youngest of the five children.

Lily married Kenneth Lewis Curtis on February 1, 1947 in Medford, Oregon where they lived and raised their three children. Lily's active contribution and support helped her husband achieve a successful contracting business. Kenneth passed away on his 88th birthday on January 24, 2014.

Lily learned her strong work ethic and drive for excellence from her parents. Lily's father worked as a local rancher, share cropper and builder. Besides raising five children, Lily's mother, known for her excellent cooking, cooked for the ranch hands and became the first cook at the employee cafe at the original Harry and David packing facility.

Never one to stay idle, after graduating from high school Lily worked as a secretary for COPCO (California Oregon Power Company) now known as Pacific Power. After her marriage, she worked along side her husband as they built a successful contracting business. She did the bookkeeping for the business and gave Kenneth support and encouragement.

After Kenneth's passing Lily remained active in her community, reaching out to friends and church members by helping with meals, housekeeping, errands, rides to appointments and many other services. Believing this was her purpose and why God kept her here. Her strong faith was an inspiration to family and friends. Her belief in God's promise was evidenced in her final days when she said, "I know where I'm going."

In her later years, Lily found love and companionship with a wonderful gentleman, James (Jim) Earl Holt. Their devotion to one another was a joy and comfort to them and to their families. Jim passed away this year on February 15th.

Lily's love for her family was apparent in everything she did, from her wonderful Christmas Eve gatherings to her organized summer camps with her grandchildren.

She was truly a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Lily was also very involved in organizing her high school reunions throughout the years. She even told her family shortly before she passed away that she was the last surviving member of the Medford High School class of 1944.

Lily was a reverend matriarch and her presence will be greatly missed by her loving family.

Lily is survived by her son, Kenneth Ray Curtis, his wife Barbara Curtis, daughter, Cami Kay Brewer and her husband Roy Brewer. Grandchildren; Kerry, Casey, Kendra, Tara, Cody, Cari and Josh as well as many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Her beloved son, Clark William Curtis preceded her in death in 1993.
