IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda Mae
Maier
January 5, 1951 – July 14, 2024
Linda Mae Maier, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024, in her hometown of Medford, Oregon, where she was also born on January 5, 1951. She was a cherished life partner, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Linda is survived by many family members, including her devoted life partner, David Maier; her loving daughters, Dorie Evans and Shawna Dodson; her adored grandchildren, Kirstin Trujillo, Kathryn McCollum, Kariana McCollum, and Austin Maier; and her dear siblings, Lonnie Croghan, George Summers, Jamie Summers, and Lori Hunsley. She was a treasured niece to her aunts, Lois Twedell, Mary Cady, and Lea Etta "Tootsie" Sharp. Her family circle extended to many cherished nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Van Dyke; father, Orvin Oroville "Dell" Summers; and siblings, Darlene Johnson, Robert "Bobby" Short, and Della Summers, as well as many beloved aunts and uncles.
Linda's warm and loving nature was evident to everyone she met. She had a feisty, fun-loving side that brought joy and laughter to those around her, especially when she shared her love for slapstick humor. Her kindness was as genuine as it was boundless, with a heart of gold that led her to offer help whenever it was needed, often giving her last dollar to someone in need without a second thought.
Though she was known for being stubborn and set in her ways, Linda's fierce love for her family was unparalleled. She was the matriarch who held the family together with her strength and unwavering support. Linda's presence was comforting, and her advice was sought after, always delivered with honesty and care.
Linda also had a unique charm about her, often carrying gum in her purse, which she would give out freely whenever asked. This small gesture was just one of the many ways she showed her love and consideration for others. Her grandchildren, in particular, will remember the sweet moments of sharing a piece of gum and the stories and laughter that followed.
Linda's life was not only defined by her love for her family but also by the friendships she cultivated throughout her years. Her presence was a gift to all who had the pleasure of knowing her, and her memory will continue to inspire kindness and laughter in the lives she touched.
As we bid farewell to Linda Mae Maier, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the beautiful life she lived. Her spirit will live on in the stories shared, the memories cherished, and the love that will forever connect her to those she leaves behind. Linda's journey on earth has ended, but her story will continue to be told with affection and a smile by those who loved her most.
In honoring Linda's life, we remember a woman whose presence was a gift, whose laughter was infectious, and whose heart was always open. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will continue to shine brightly, guiding those she loved through the days ahead.
