Lucille Trowbridge passed away on December 21, 2023 in Medford, Oregon, surrounded by her four children. She was born 96 years ago in Detroit, Michigan and led a long and joyous life, filled with music, dance and laughter.
Lucille married Ira Trowbridge, the love of her life, in 1946, their marriage spanning 56 beautiful years, until Ira's death in 2002. Due to military obligations, Lucille and Ira were stationed in four different states while raising four children. When Ira retired from the military, they moved to Oregon in 1966.
Lucille worked for the Army Corps of Engineers early on in Alaska, and upon the eventual move to Central Oregon, she worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Bend and Sisters for many years. Following retirement, Lucille and Ira moved to Medford, Oregon in 1991 and enjoyed their remaining years not having to deal with the cold snow of Alaska and Central Oregon.
Lucille was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always ready to play Rummikub or arm wrestle, both of which she relished beating most people she played.
She is survived by her children and their families: Barry (Kathy) Trowbridge, Denise Trowbridge, Carol Trowbridge and Sandy (Bill) Rowan; grandchildren Charles, Rebecca, Spencer, Matthew and Scott; and great-grandchildren Sophia, Lucas and Jacob.
