IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvin Dale
Taylor
December 9, 1936 – February 21, 2025
Marvin Dale Tayor passed away peacefully at his home on February 21, 2025. He was the last living male in his generation.
He was born in Ashland to parents, Merrill Taylor and Merlee Taylor Brooks.
He attended Ashland Schools and was recognized for his exceptional athletic ability.
As a young man he joined the Marines to finish his education and pursue a career.
Unfortunately, during training, he became ill and spent nine months in the hospital and received a Medical Discharge. He was in and out of the VA Hospital throughout his life. With all his problems he had a great attitude, "it is what it is" and then continues on to do his best and make sure others around him were taking care of themselves.
He grew up in a timber family and worked for his dad at Taylor's Brothers where he learned the operation of the mill and continued to work in the lumber businesses until his retirement. He had fond memories of his experiences and the people he worked with.
Dale was a football enthusiast always rooting for San Francisco. His hope was to live to see this year's Super Bowl game, and he did. He bowled on a team for many years. He liked watching old Western movies. Other recreations he was superb at were shooting pool, winning on pinball machines, gambling and enjoying the rewards of the win.
Dale was good to help people often taking people into his home until they could get back on their feet. He was a favorite with the children always ready to hold them, talk and tease with them.
He loved his family and was very proud of them. He is survived by his daughters, Lynda Benkel (Scott) Florida, Amanda Taylor (Mike) Central Point, Oregon; grandchildren John McElhone Florida, Murray McElhone Medford, Kimberley Aynes Medford, Mikey Aynes Central Point; great
-grandson Jackson McElhone Florida. He is also survived by sister Sherry Cessnun and nephews Brad and David Cessnun as well as great niece Nichole Cessnun and great, great nephew Bentley Wilson.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and a brother, Doran.
He will be loved and missed but now is home and well with the Lord.
A service will be held at the Eagle Point National Veterans Cemetery Wednesday, March 26, at 1:00.
Sincere appreciation to Asante Hospice and the VA for providing excellent care.
