Meaghan Diane Maurer of Medford, Oregon, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023. Cause of
death was a traumatic brain injury due to a fall. Meaghan was born in Medford on February 20, 1981.
She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1999. She
received a bachelor’s degree in communications from Oregon State University in 2004. She was an avid
OSU Beaver fan!
After college Meaghan worked in the mortgage industry in Portland for several years. She
transitioned to being a placement recruiter for a short time before returning to her roots in Southern
Oregon. She went to work in banking upon her return, but recently had fulfilled a lifelong dream of
finding the perfect career. She was working as a Speech & Language Pathologist Assistant with Douglas
County ESD here in the Medford Area. She was passionate about helping prepare young students with
special needs for a bright future. She touched their hearts, and they touched hers on a daily basis.
Meaghan radiated positive, joyful energy wherever she went. She made so many deep and
lasting connections with friends and family throughout her life. So many have shared how she lit up a
room with her smile when she entered. She was funny, silly, passionate, and kind. She cared so much
for the people in her life and that led to an outpouring of love for her from neighbors, co-workers,
friends and family. She leaves a legacy of love behind.
Meaghan is survived by her parents Dick and Sue Maurer of Medford; her sister Annie Sims and
brother-in-law Bryan, Corvallis, Oregon; her precious nephew, Lane Sims and adored niece, Lilly Sims, also of
Corvallis; her beloved companion dog, Benny; and a large, loving family of uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Meaghan was preceded in death by her four grandparents.
A funeral mass will be held for Meaghan at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 517 W 10th Street,
Medford, Oregon, on Friday, October 6, at 10 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers
donations can be made to Sacred Heart School, Family Nurturing Center, or Southern Oregon Humane
Society.
