Monte Ray Stamper, age 84, of Medford, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 with his loving family by his side. He was born, the son of Lester and Nona Stamper, on February 21, 1937, in Vancouver, WA. At 4 years only, his family relocated to Medford, OR. He attended Medford High School until he entered the Air Force to serve his county in 1954. On September 30, 1961, he married the love of his life, Bernice Wertz. He was a businessman who loved to enrich his community. He owned Monte’s Shoe Store in Medford for over 20 years. He was an active member in professional’s groups, including the Christian Men and Women’s Business Club. Over the years he made many devoted friends and was one to many. He loved fishing, the outdoors, and a quiet walk through the park. He was a loving father, and dedicated husband. He will be deeply missed by all. Monte is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bernice; children, Cindy (Randall Barrett) Smith, and Mark (Jacquelyn) Stamper; sisters, Judy (Ed) Grautski. He was preceded in death by his parents. He will be laid to rest at Eagle Point National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jackson County Right to Life. The family would like to extend a special thanks to very dear friends who supported and encouraged us through this very difficult time.
