IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Ann
Andren
November 30, 1940 – April 15, 2025
Patricia Dougherty Albright Andren, born November 30, 1940, in Medford, Oregon, passed away on April 15, 2025, in Medford.
The daughter of Martha Adelaide Murray and Winston Thayer Dougherty, Patricia was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1958. Later that year, she married Edward Mac Albright, and together they raised four children. In 1971, Patricia earned her B.A. in English Literature along with her teaching certificate from Southern Oregon State University. She taught at Sacred Heart Elementary School and also worked as a bookkeeper for Hart's Jewelers in Medford.
A lifelong member of St. Mark's Episcopal Parish, Patricia and Ed celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a vow renewal in 1983 at the Bella Union in Jacksonville. Ed, a respected English teacher and department chair at Medford Mid High, passed away in 1987.
Following his passing, Patricia found renewed purpose through her work with Carleen Osher and Jane Sommers on the Senior Project initiative via Farwest Edge. Their collaboration brought educational workshops to schools nationwide and helped shape curriculum development across the country.
In 1991, Patricia married Edwin Roy Andren at St. Mark's, and the Reverend David Close officiated. They shared some joyful years of gardening and dancing until a long illness led to his passing in 2017.
Patricia was an avid reader and genealogist, teaching for the Medford Genealogy Society and uncovering long-lost family connections, including a reunion with her brother Larry Leon Dougherty shortly before his death.
And, she had a cheeky sense of humor, as her grandchildren, known for recording their grandmother during off color moments of Crimes Against Humanity, can attest. We all cherish her and will miss her wit, love of learning, and enduring spirit. A song from their era captures Patricia's relationship with the love of her life, Ed Albright: "Hello Again" by Neil Diamond. No doubt the two of them are now humming "It's good to love you like I do, And I feel this way when I hear you say, Hello" as they share a long embrace in that big research library in the sky.
Patricia is survived by her four children: David Albright (Grants Pass), Marti Albright (Grants Pass), Steven Albright (Trail),Theresa Callahan and Son-In-Law David Callahan (Dallas, TX); eight grandchildren: Rickilyn Cook and husband Dan Cook, (Bend) Andrea Evans (Grants Pass), Claire Callahan (San Francisco, CA), Andrew Albright (Oakland, CA), Megan Callahan (Rochester, NY), Bradley Albright (Lafayette, CO, Reed Albright (Seattle, WA) Kaelyn Albright (Corvallis, OR); and four great-grandchildren: Jessyca Cook (Eugene, OR), Samantha Cook (Bend, OR), Nathaniel Cook (Eugene, OR), and Draceson Evans (Grants Pass, OR). She was preceded in death by her father Winston Dougherty, her mother Martha Black, her sister Brenda Perkins, and her niece Karen Johnson.
A graveside service followed by a memorial and reception is scheduled for May 2, 2025 at 2:00 P.M.
