Patricia Joanne
Bohnert
March 30, 1942 – March 5, 2026
Patricia Bohnert (Barber) was born March 30, 1942, to William G. and Betty Barber, in Medford, Oregon. Pat (Patty to her friends) passed on March 5th, 2026, just shy of her 84th birthday surrounded by her loved ones. Pat was a lifelong resident of Southern Oregon.
Pat met Marvin Bohnert, and they married on June 16th, 1960. They lived in Central Point to raise their children and be close to other family members. Later in retirement years, they spent the winter months in Yuma, AZ as snowbirds with family and friends.
Pat was a homemaker and as their children grew up, she took on several jobs that worked around the kid's schedules. For a brief time, she worked for a greeting card company stocking greeting cards at the local stores. She also sold Avon products, often taking the kids on her sales route. Once the kids were in elementary school, Pat began driving school buses for School District 6, where she drove school bus for many years until being promoted to Transportation Department Supervisor for the district. In this role she scheduled routes, trained, and oversaw all school bus activity for the School District 6. She held this position until her retirement in 2000.
Pat was the do it all mom. She made sure the kids got to their activities, which meant she would drive around the state to various swim meets, ball games, livestock fairs and any other activity the kids were involved in. Pat also volunteered and helped organize the Children's Festival in it's early years.
Pat loved the sun and ocean, so when a teacher from Crater HS began booking cruises during spring break, she was hooked. For the next 7 years she and Marvin cruise vacationed in various parts of the Caribbean and eastern Mexico. This eventually ended up wanting to take her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren on several cruises. Due to her love of sun and sea, they purchased timeshares in Hawaii and Southern California, where again, they vacationed with the children and grandchildren. Marvin and Pat bought a RV and started taking RV trips around the United States. They also spent weekends camping with family and friends. Pat was an accomplished and creative scrapbooker with fantastic scrapbooks of these vacations, RV trips and of each grandchildren's young lives.
She loved her grandchildren and would travel near and far to see their activities, accomplishments, and weddings. Pat enjoyed having family and friends at her home spending time in the pool and playing games together. When friends aged and no longer could drive, Pat would pick them up and take them to lunch or dinner.
Pat is survived by son Russ (Teresa), daughter Rebecca (Peter), grandchildren Jay (Lily), Shakera (Dave), Cody (Tori) and Brittany, great grandchildren Alexia, Maverick, Elliott and Grace, brother Bill Barber (Cheryl) and nephews and nieces.
The family would like to express their gratitude to their close friends and their love of Pat. There will be no services at her request. If you would like to celebrate Pat, please do so with a piece of Great Harvest cinnamon bread, toasted and buttered in her honor.
