Phyllis "Toot" Lenore Couch

March 5, 1952 — October 31, 2022

On Monday October 31, 2022, Phyllis "Toot" Lenore Couch- loving mother, grandmother, GG, sister, aunt and friend to many- passed away at age 70 in Medford, Oregon.

Toot was born to Wilbur "Boe" and Ila Wilson in Baker City, Oregon where she grew up with 3 brothers and 4 sisters on a dry-land wheat farm. It was there that she learned the value of hardwork, good cookin, and family. As one of eight siblings, she developed a quick sense of humor and big personality that grew throughout her lifetime.

Over the years, Toot enjoyed camping and fishing with her family and friends. She was a huge fan of the Wilson-McCumber family reunions, a time she was grateful to connect with her brothers, sisters, cousins and their families. Some of her favorite memories were from times she went mushroom hunting and huckleberry picking with her brother Jerry and her kids. She loved to sew and quilt. It brought her joy to share her cooking and baking with family and friends. She was a stranger to no one, making friends wherever she went, and found great pride in caring for those around her. She was known best for her infectious laugh, fierce determination and generous spirit.

Toot was preceded in death by both of her parents, sister Claudia "Sis", and brothers Delton, Walter, and Jerry. She is loved and missed by her daughter and son-in-law Holly and Martin Garcia, her son and partner Justin Couch and Alexandria Later, her grandchildren Joseph and Kelsie Garcia, Julian Couch, Nathan Garcia, Leanna Garcia, and Aiden Couch, her great grandbabies Jojo and Elena Garcia, her sisters Leanna McMasters, Marge Waldal, Ila "Babe" Hamilton and their families, and numerous friends.

To honor her wishes, she will be laid to rest near her family in the Baker City Cemetery Saturday, November 19th at noon followed by a celebration of life at 1105 Place Street, Baker City. Friends and family are invited to come share fond and funny memories and stories.
