Richard "Dick" Laipple (86) of Medford, Oregon passed away on January 18, 2023.
 
Dick was born to Paul and Virginia Laipple on August 29, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa.  He spent his early childhood in Iowa and later moved to California with his family.  He graduated from Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach.  
 
In 1966, Dick met and married Susan "Tootie" Sullivan.  They went on to have two children, Ed and Jenna.
 
After a brief career in the Hollywood movie studios at MGM as a key grip, he studied Criminal Justice and attended the police academy.  Dick became a talented marksman and officer of the law.  He enjoyed a fulfilling career as a police officer, detective and private investigator until his retirement in 2002.  Dick was, above all, a loving husband and dedicated father and friend.  Among his family and friends, "To know him is to love him" has been said a thousand times.
 
Dick enjoyed playing golf, traveling, watching the Angels baseball games, playing Trivial Pursuit, watching Jeopardy, and spending time with family and friends.  He was a strong man and a gentle soul.
 
He was predeceased by his parents Phil and Virginia, his twin brother Robert "Bob", stepfather Phil, sister Paula, brother-in-law Glen Lupescu, and grandson Christian.  He is survived by his wife Tootie, his children Ed (Kim Reed) and Jenna (Michael Barker) his grandchildren Jacqui Anderson (Dalton Irwin) & Ashley Anderson (Easton Couch), sister-in-law Gigi Lupescu, nephew Erik Lupescu (Sheila and Remy Lupsecu), and his dear cat Bowser.
Services will be held at Perl & Siskiyou Funeral Home in Medford, Oregon on Thursday, January 26th at 1 pm.  
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Friends of the Animal Shelter (FOTAS) and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).
