Obituary

Rita Yvoncille (Smith) Sollie, age 90, of Medford, Oregon, passed peacefully into the arms of her loving Savior on July 1, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on June 26, 1936, in Donna, Texas, “Mickey” Sollie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and woman of strong faith. She lived a life marked by quiet strength, unconditional love for her family, and a deep trust in God’s provision through every season.

Mickey is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Sollie; her son, Stephen Arthur of Medford, Oregon (who passed away in 2020); and her brother, Donald Smith (who passed in 2015).

She is survived by her four living sons and their wives — Buzz Arthur of Kamiah, Idaho (Sherry), Michael Arthur of Lexington, Kentucky (Kindra), Larry Arthur of Idleyld Park, Oregon (April), and Daniel Arthur of Franklin, Tennessee (Michelle) — along with the loving memory of her son Stephen, making five sons in total. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Parsley; her lifelong friend, Fran Mack; her grandchildren: Christopher Arthur (Tabby), Rachael Arthur, Sarah Arthur, Eric Arthur (Michelle), Nicki Arthur, Jennifer Arthur, Alex Arthur, DJ Arthur, Rebecca Arthur-Silva (Phillip), Shawn Arthur, Michael Arthur, Jr., Jackson Arthur, Grace Arthur; and several great-grandchildren. Mickey cherished every moment with her family and leaves behind a legacy of faith, resilience, and countless nuggets of wisdom that will continue to bless her family.

A woman of deep Christian faith, Mickey found comfort in Scripture and daily prayer. She was dearly adored by her sons and her entire family. A humble listener with a gentle spirit, she offered wise counsel without ever seeing herself as an advisor. Everything in life, for her, could gently turn into a conversation about Jesus — yet she also embraced the beauty of living fully in the here and now. No matter her children’s ages, she remained a patient, loving presence who truly heard every concern and, whenever possible, helped make things better. Her quiet strength and steadfast love touched everyone who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at the VA Cemetery in Eagle Point on July 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Jews for Jesus in Mickey’s memory.
