Robert Edward “Bobby” Erwert, 83, passed away on March 3, 2023, in Medford, Oregon. Bobby was born on October 24, 1939, in Oakland, California to Robert and Ruth (Gibson) Erwert.
Bobby graduated from Mt. Angel Preparatory High School in Mt. Angel, Oregon in 1957. Right out of high school Bobby found his calling in the United States Air Force in communications. He retired after twenty years of honorable service. After retiring from the Air Force Bobby started a new life taking classes in Information Technology (I.T.), obtaining a job in computer programming with Intel.
Later in life he met and married Margaret “Penny” Kastel whom preceded him in death.
Bobby loved Genealogy and completed much of his family’s Genealogy work on his own, passing down his work to a cousin. He was an avid reader, with his favorites being books about World War II and Astronomy. He loved to travel and found a way to entwine it with his love of Genealogy. He went to Germany with the Banat Association as a member with his wife and made an additional trip to Germany to visit a family member with his sisters Shirley and Sandra.
He is survived by his brother James “Jim” Erwert of Lewiston, Idaho, his sisters Shirley Delfino and Sandra Jennings of Gardnerville, Nevada, Cindy Hagedorn of Dayton, Nevada, his nephews Scott Linn, Christopher Linn, Nicholas Hagedorn, Brian Hagedorn and many cousins.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Tigard, Oregon, where he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Penny. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project as his time spent in the military was so important to him.
