Obituary

Roberta Laursen, born March 10, 1939, passed away peacefully in her home on the evening of November 6, 2024. She was lovingly cared for by her sister-in-law in her last weeks and was surrounded by love as her soul soared into the heavens.

Roberta was affectionately known as Birdie, Gramsy, Mimi, Bobo, Mutha Mutha, and Sister. She was loved and adored by many, including her 3 beautiful daughters, her husband, 3 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and beloved sister- in-law.

Roberta was resourceful and a hard worker. Her fathers advice was always to learn something new each day. Roberta took this to heart and was involved in many aspects of the family construction business from drawing plans, to painting to operating the bulldozer. She worked on their ranch, helped run their restaurant and care for the golf course they owned. There was nothing she couldn't do.

Roberta retired to Medford Oregon with her husband Daniel Craiger, where they developed many meaningful friendships. Roberta had a love of nature and she dedicated much of her time to gardening. She created a community vegetable garden in her neighborhood where the bounties benefited many. As a lover of all creatures, the peaceful sanctuary in her back yard was transformed into a haven for birds, bees and hummingbirds.

Roberta's wit was as sharp as her spade, and her ability to listen was as profound as the roots of the weeping cherry tree in her garden. She had the memory of an elephant and was an amazing storyteller, sharing tidbits that were informative, full of wisdom, and could always make you laugh. It was this combination of her loving, thoughtful, and spirited nature that made her the irreplaceable soul she was.

Roberta's strong belief in the goodness of people and her ability to love unconditionally can be summarized in John Lennon's song "Imagine" where he says: Imagine all the people living in peace. You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will be as one.

In memory of Roberta, let's not say goodbye. Instead, let's find a garden, listen to the birds, and share a story or two.
