Samuel Conrad
Inkley
March 20, 1930 – November 29, 2024
Samuel Conrad Inkley was born March 20, 1930 in Portland, OR to Samuel Clark Inkley and Alice Martha Meek.
Sam was very proud of his Meek heritage and spent considerable time putting together picture albums of both sides of his family tree and attending annual reunions. His Great-Grandfather Joseph Lafayette Meek travelled to Washington D.C. to see President Polk and request Oregon become the 33rd state. President Polk then appointed Joe Meek as the first US Marshall of Oregon.
Sam also was into hunting from the time he was 5 years old. He hunted pheasant, duck, deer, elk and antelope as well as fishing in the lakes and ocean. He was hunting into his late 80's with family and friends. Elk season was always a fun gathering. Sam was longtime Elk member and loved to travel. In addition to many cruises around the US and World, he belonged to several RV groups and went on numerous outings. Sam attended the Pendleton rodeo for almost 50 years and had season seats. He also attended the Calgary Stampede, the Cheyenne Frontier Rodeo and several St. Paul Rodeos.
Sam is survived by his wife of 73 years, Phyllis, his daughter Gayle Jolliffe, son-in-law Greg, his son Samuel Claude Inkley, daughter-in-law Diana, two grandsons and two great-grandsons, his sister Michele Davis, his brother-in-law Charles Davis and three nieces.
