IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Samuel Moffett
Naumes
May 4, 1951 – November 20, 2025
Samuel Moffett Naumes passed away peacefully from complications of Alzheimer's Disease on November 20, 2025. He was born on May 4,1951, in Medford, Oregon, to Robert "Nooks" Naumes and Mary Jarvie Thompson Naumes. The fourth of five brothers, Sam grew up surrounded by his siblings and many cousins.
Sam graduated from St. Mary's School and later from Santa Clara University, and remained a proud fan and devoted supporter of both schools throughout his life.
After college, Sam returned to work in the family business, Naumes Equipment & Fuel Company. He thrived in his work, valuing the relationships he built with customers and colleagues—many of whom became dear friends. In 1999, Sam expanded the company by founding Naumes' Oregon Motorsports, a venture that brought him great pride.
In the fall of 1974, a night out with his brother Butch led to an unexpected meeting with a young nurse from Seattle. She happened to be staying just a few doors down while working at Rogue Regional Medical Center for the summer. They hit it off, married after a couple of years, and spent the next 49 years building a family they cherished—and who will miss him beyond measure.
Sam was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was grounded in his family and faith. He loved napping in the warm sunshine, vacationing in warm climates, and a good joke. Most of all, Sam was incredibly generous and never hesitated to help someone in need. In his later years, he found peace in tending to his yard and garden. The thing that brought Sam the most joy was spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.
Sam is preceded in death by his brothers, Pete and Patrick Naumes, and his nephew Matt Naumes. He is survived by his wife, Sue, his daughters, Sarah (Kevin) Primerano and Rebecca Naumes, his grandchildren, Rocco and Giovanni Primerano, Mariah, Matilda, and Clara Vega, his best friend Jim North, his brothers Butch and Ned Naumes, and many cousins and extended family.
A funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford, Oregon, on December 5, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to St. Mary's School, 816 Black Oak Drive, Medford. Sam's alma mater, and a school cherished by generations of the Naumes and Primerano families.
The family wishes to thank Pina Rose from Caring Hands Adult Foster Home and Asante Hospice for their gentle care of Sam in his final days
