Sayer "Skip" Carter Strauch went home to our Lord and Savior in Medford, Oregon on July 9, 2024 at the age of 61.
He was born in Mid-Island Hospital, Bethpage, New York on March 26, 1963 to his loving parents Harry Carter Strauch (deceased) and Claire Munson Strauch of Medford, OR.
Skip was the loving father of three children, Emma Jane Strauch, Nathan Carter Strauch and Ian Joseph Strauch of Salem, Oregon, born to him by his former wife, Heidi Olsen Strauch, also of Salem.
He is survived by his three children and former wife, as well as his mother, step-father Harry A. Krogman (Medford, OR), step-mother Nancy Strauch (Point Richmond, CA), sisters Diana Lee Swenson (Walnut Creek, CA) and Cindy Louise Hardcastle (Scott) (Anderson Island, WA), brother Mark Scureman Strauch (Laurie) (Alamo, CA), step-brother Frederic Wakeman (Sally) (Greenwich, CT) and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Skip graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of the Pacific in 1985 and then was awarded a Master of Divinity from the San Francisco Theological Seminary in 1997. He was a Presbyterian pastor, an interim pastor, a family/peer support specialist in a county mental health department, an insurance salesperson, a legal assistant and started a window-washing business while in high school. He was a golden-hearted, kind and most gentle soul, a helper to all, an author, and a friend to many. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Harry Carter Strauch (Point Richmond, CA) and brother-in-law John Gunnar Swenson (Walnut Creek, CA), as well as his former mother-in-law Jane Olsen (Portland, OR).
A memorial service/celebration of life for Skip will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Medford, Oregon. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the First Presbyterian Church of Medford, 85 S. Holly Street, Oregon 97501.
