Shandra Darnell Bateman

October 11, 1940 — March 10, 2019

Shandra Darnell Bateman, 78, passed away on Sunday March 10, 2019 in her home after a brief illness. She was born October 11, 1940 to William "Bill" and Evelyn (Lewis) Brewster. She was a 1958 graduate of St Vincent High School in Vallejo, CA.

She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Jim, her daughter Elizabeth (Matthew) Wright, sons; James (Noreen) Dwyer, Jonathan (Kim) Dwyer, grandsons; Nick Wright, Patrick Dwyer, Alex Wright, and Evan Wright, granddaughters; Sarah Wright and Megan Dwyer, niece Piper Brewster; and many cousins. Shandra was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bill, and sister Rebecca.

Shandra married James Bateman on November 5, 1976. Together they traveled extensively starting with the United States and then broadened their travels to include many places throughout the world. They also started a business together selling books that continues to this day.

Shandra truly lived life to the fullest with extensive traveling all over the world, she was the family historian researching genealogy for nearly 50 years, gardening, trying new recipes, and volunteering in the sewing department with Rogue Valley Hospital. She loved flowers, and Jim would often surprise her with flowers. She also enjoyed walking, bible study, and chatting with friends and family. She was a member of the Red Hearts Luncheon group. She will be missed.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Shandra touched are invited to a viewing on March 18, 2019 from 10 am to 1 pm at Perl Funeral Home: 2100 Siskiyou Blvd, Medford, OR 97504 with burial immediately following in the cemetery. Following burial the family will greet friends at the Perl Funeral Chapel.
