Stanley M Zwan (83) peacefully passed away on December 28th, 2023. He was born on February 16,1940 to Emil J Zwan and Alice L Zwan in Medford Oregon.
Stan graduated from Phoenix High School in 1958 where he played football. He then joined the Army National Guard and went to work for Oak Street Tank and Steel Inc. in Ashland, OR. Upon leaving, he went to work for Electric Supply, rebuilding speedometers and tachometers. He then started a long career as a heavy equipment mechanic and welder for several businesses in the valley.
Outside of work Stan enjoyed gardening, which he learned from his father Emil. He had a particular affinity for growing ambrosia cantaloupes, tomatoes, hot peppers, and banana squash. His produce was enjoyed throughout town, often sought after by those who appreciated the difference between ordinary and exceptional quality. During his retirement, he continually sought out innovative techniques to cultivate the most remarkable produce possible.
Stan also had a passion for rescuing dogs, tinkering with various objects and equipment. He delighted in attempting to fix electrical or mechanical problems and was always eager to learn something new.
Stan was a devout Catholic, he found solace and guidance in his religious beliefs, which provided him with a moral compass to navigate lifes challenges and joys.
He is survived by his brother Lanny Zwan, sister Marilyn Richards, his three children Timothy, Theresa, and Andrew. As well as numerous relatives and friends.
There will be a funeral mass for Stan at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday January 12, 2023, at 11:00 am with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall. He will be interred at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
