IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Viola Lucille
Lewis
December 24, 1931 – December 20, 2024
Viola Lucile Lewis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at her home in Medford, Oregon on December 20, 2024. She had an unwavering faith in God and trusted in Jesus Christ as her Savior; her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She loved watching and listening to gospel music and following telecast services of Ruch Community Bible Church.
She was born in Ventura, California December 24, 1931. At an early age she and her family relocated to the Rogue Valley. She married the love of her life, Dean William Lewis, at Provolt Community Church, Oregon on April 3, 1950. They were the best of friends and their dedication to each other was a great example of what a marriage should be.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 74 years, Dean Lewis; and their children Janice Lewis, Deanne Lewis (Bill) Strock, and Daniel Lewis (Wendy); grandchildren Bradley Hunt, Hilary Hunt, Amanda Swift (deceased), Jamie Lewis, and Amie Lewis; great grandchildren Tailer Hunt, Tucker Magee, Samantha Swift, Ryan Lewis and Logan Morgan.
She was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Grace Hunter, sister Eldana Wood, and brothers Raymond Ayers and Billie Joe Hunter. Her greatest joy was her family – she was fiercely protective of them and often made sacrifices putting them before her throughout her life. She loved canning fruits and vegetables, flower gardening, was a terrific seamstress, and a voracious reader. A book in her hands lasted only a few days. Viola loved traveling to the mountain lakes and especially trips to the Oregon coast.
She will always be our shining light, we will continue to honor her, take her good advice, remember her stories, and love her with all our hearts. A private family gathering will be held at Logtown Cemetery, Jacksonville
