Wilbur E. Hargeaves Jr, 93, went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ while at Celia's Hospice House in Medford, Oregon on July 22, 2026. Wilbur's son Richard; Daughter; Bonnie, and the rest of the family are rejoicing knowing that dad and mom are once again together, this time with Jesus.
Wilbur was born December 25, 1932 in Eugene, Oregon, to Wilbur E. Hargreaves and Thelma Hargreaves. His childhood revolved largely around a love for sports. He would later become the world's greatest Oregon Ducks fan. His greatest childhood memory was of him sitting on his fathers shoulders as a 6 year old boy greeting the 1939 N.C.A.A. basketball Champion Oregon Duck team as they returned home on the train from the championship game. He said half of Eugene turned out to greet them.
Following high school Wilbur entered the Air Force, serving during the Korean War. His time was spent stationed in England. He was there when Queen Elizabeth was coronated. Once his service in the military ended, he would meet the love of his life, Barbara Jean. They were married on September 28, 1956 and would spend 67 years together until Barbara's death in 2023.
While Wilbur was a loving husband and father he struggled, living a wordly life. In 1980 he had a genuine born again experience, committing his life to Jesus. His life was forever changed and he became a man of wisdom and grace. He had struggled with alcohol until one night he cried out to God to take the desire to drink away from him. God answered his prayer and he would never touch a drop pf alcohol again living a sober life for the next 46 years. Truly born again, he spent these 46 years loving his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and acquaintances with the Love of Jesus. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur Hargreaves and Thelma Hargreaves, as well as his son Thomas Hargreaves.
He is survived by his sister, Shirley Lange; son, Richard; Daughter Bonnie; Daughter in law Carolyn; grandchildren George, Keli, Rachel and Amy.
