Wilma Helen Miers (Taylor) peacefully entered into eternal rest on February 6, 2024 with her youngest daughter, DeLacy, by her side in Medford, Oregon.

She was born in Barnhill, Illinois on July 31, 1941 to William Hartley and Ruth Friend Taylor. Her father passed away before she was born and her mother passed away when she was six years of age. Wilma was raised by her father's sister, Tressie Isabella Taylor, and Tressie's husband, Henry Eugene Koke in Springfield, Illinois. On December 31, 1961, she married the love of her life, Edwin Henry Miers Jr. In their 57 years of marriage they had 5 beautiful children: Dawn, Tad, Scott, Marsh and DeLacy.

Wilma's many accomplishments were driven by her desire to educate and pour into people's lives. Her childhood experiences, life as a military wife, and her personal relationship with Jesus Christ gave her an amazing ability to love people and help those in need.

From 1960-1981 Wilma was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. In 1969 and 1971 she was elected Girl of the Year by her Sorority in Escondido, California. During her husband's Navy career she held various offices in the Navy Wives Club of America.

While living in Washington, the Miers family became very involved in Boy Scouts of America where Wilma served in many positions. She also served as Chairman of Missions for the Board of Christian Education and was a member of the Council for Exceptional Children.

Shortly after the Miers family moved to Blackfoot, Idaho Wilma's husband retired from the Navy. Wilma graduated from Idaho State University in 1982 with a BA in Elementary Education and Special Education Studies. Soon after graduating she began her teaching career in Special Education and in 1985 Wilma was elected Teacher of the Year in Fort Hall, Idaho. Wilma was the First Vice Chairman for Idaho Network to Stop Violence Against Women and Vice Chairman of Bingham Crisis Center for Women.

In 1987 the Miers family moved to Fallon, Nevada. Wilma continued to flourish in her career and was a 2-time recipient of the Community Service Teacher Award. During her tenure with Churchill County School District, she instructed a wide variety of students through multiple teaching positions and retired as a Second Grade Teacher from West End Elementary in 2006. Wilma volunteered in several organizations in the community and held several offices in American Association of University Women (AAUW), receiving The Woman of the Year Award in 1999. She also enjoyed serving in various positions at Epworth United Methodist Church, especially teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir.

Wilma relocated to Medford Oregon in 2021 where she enjoyed the beautiful view off her veranda while she colored and did crossword puzzles. She loved exploring the many waterfalls, rivers and lakes with family and friends. She also enjoyed attending church, Bible study and singing with Southern Oregon Sound Chorus. Wilma loved her life, never missing a chance to sing and dance; even singing with her family the same day she entered eternal paradise.

Wilma is remembered for her warm peaceful presence and kind-hearted caring spirit. Those who knew her well also enjoyed her sassy, feisty, fun side that ran under the radar. Her genuine love for God, family, nature, music, dancing and enjoying life to its fullest will continue to be an inspiration to us all. Her huge capacity to love will forever be imprinted upon our hearts.

Wilma's previously departed loved ones include her parents, William Hartley and Ruth Friend Taylor; Henry and Tressie Koke; her husband, Edwin Henry Miers Jr.; two brothers, Henry Robert Koke and Charles Edward Koke and two sisters, Dorothy Margaret Hughes and Wilma Harriet Hall.

She is survived by her five children; Dawn Neilson (Tennas) of Sun Valley, Nevada; Tad Miers (Martha) of Richland, Washington; Scott Miers of Carson City, Nevada; Marsh Miers (Maxine) of Elko, Nevada; DeLacy Trinidad (Ken) of Medford, Oregon; Grandchildren: Jamee, Corinna, Cassee, Louisea, Zaira, Eric, Elvis, Tad Jr., Jezelle, Malinda, Kyle, Kevin, Elizabeth, Travis, Carmen, Meagan and numerous Great and Great-Great-Grandchildren.
